Scholarship Winner 2004

Adrienne Adams
Currently a full-time senior nurse associate at KU Hospital,
attending KU School of Nursing part-time. Single mother of two daughters. Here
are some of Adrienne’s comments taking from her scholarship application:
"Am I the non-traditional student"? With much emphasis, I would agree.
Not returning to school is an easy option, but unacceptable. A forty plus year
old mom in an environment where most of the students are 1/2 her age is a hard
pill to swallow. I do often ask myself why I'm doing what I'm doing because the
time and effort are pretty hard. However, I know I am doing what's best. I work
hard and I'm committed to doing the best job I can do. That's with anything in
my life. The pay-off is wonderful and I'm excited."
