The Women's Chamber of Commerce is an organization whose membership consists of women representing business, industry, civic, education, health related, service oriented, commercial and other interests in the Greater Kansas City community. The organization exists to foster the common good of both the community and its residents by promoting the strengths of women and their contributions in leadership roles.


Member of the Month

Each month, the Women’s Chamber of Commerce recognizes one woman who exemplifies the core values of the Women’s Chamber.

This month’s member: Therese M. Bysel

Therese has worked in the Wyandotte County community since 1980 after moving from Omaha to Kansas City, KS.  Her banking career followed her from Omaha to Kansas City.  She worked her way through many banking positions from Loan Teller to Vice President Operations.  She chose to leave the banking industry in 2008 after 35 years.  She is currently Assistant HR Director with Wyandot, Inc.  which provides community mental health services to adults and children in Wyandotte County. 

Therese has been a member of the KCK Women’s Chamber since the early 1980’s and involved in many organizations in the community.  She currently facilitates a monthly book club at the Keeler Women’s Center and is serving as Co-Chair of the Caritas Clinics Celebrates Auction.  She has been a past Women’s Chamber President and held various other positions within the organization throughout the years.  She credits her involvement with the Women’s Chamber in development of leadership skills and in developing a  base of wonderful friends and mentors.  She is a recent graduate of Leadership 2000, Class XXV.

Therese currently lives in Platte County with her husband, Bill  and two yellow labs, “Bear” and “Lizzy”.  She and her husband have four children and 8 grandchildren.  Free time is spent reading, gardening and being a “Grammie” to all the little ones.  She also finds herself headed to Omaha frequently to visit with her mom, 5 brothers and sisters and her daughter and the little ones there.
